The 2016/17 Bermuda Rugby Football Union’s League Season continued at the National Sports Center with 105 points put on the board in total between the Women’s and Men’s Divisions.
The League continues to grow with the introduction of a Women’s Second Division.
In Women's First Division action the Teachers got a Try from Lauren Rothwell and Gillian Cross as they defeated the Mariners 2 - 0, the Renegades defeated the Police 3 - 1. Leah Collis scored 2 Try’s to lead the Renegades to victory, with Melissa Franklin added the other, while Jo Murray scored the loe Try for the Police.
In the lone Women's Second Division match Jozelle Escolastica scored the lone Try for the Renegades as they defeated the Police 1 - 0.
In Men's League action the Teachers came from behind to defeat the Mariners 38 - 8 in a hard hitting match. Early in the match the Mariners took the lead when Rory O'Kelly-Lynch broke free and scored with a defender on his back, but Teachers replied with two Try’s from Tashon DeSilva, while Jahmali Bridgewater, Chris Naylor, Kaya Simmons and Corey Boyce all added a Try each, Pat Paperplane kicked 4 Conversions. Kellen Williams kicked a Penalty for the Mariners.
The Renegades followed up their 56 points a week ago by recording a 42 - 10 win over the Police. Jamie Baum led the way with 4 Try’s for the Renegades, while Tyler Simmons and Conor McGlynn added a Try each, Brian Archibald was good on all 6 Conversions. The Police got a Try from Henry Johnson, with Rick Louw adding the Conversion and Mike Kane kicked a Penalty.
