Brynley Toms will once again start on the bench as Bedwas boosted by their victory at Newport will travel to Merthyr Tydfil to face newly promoted Merthyr RFC in what is expected to be a tough encounter.
Over the summer Merthyr have invested heavily in big name signings as they seek to establish themselves in the Welsh Premiership.
Arguably the biggest among these being the twenty three times Wales capped Andy Powell who’s club career has also included club spells at the likes of London Wasps, Sale Sharks and Cardiff Blues.
The Merthyr line up is also likely to include players with a great deal of experience in the shape of back rower Ed Siggery, second row Craig Locke, centre Gavin Dacey and former Bedwas favourite Arron Pinches who has returned to Wales following a season with Moseley RFC. Other signings include former Pontypridd players David Bishop and Dean Gunter and former Bedwas scrum half Rhys Downes.
Looking forward to the game Steve Law commented “Merthyr have recruited well over the summer but we will not be treating this game any differently from any other match. We will certainly respect our opponents as we always do but our preparations have been about what we can bring to the party rather than focussing on our opponents.
Following their last match at Newport which saw Bedwas collect three yellow cards Law has highlighted a few errors to reduce this burden.
Bedwas make one change to the starting fifteen that played at Newport. James Richards comes into the starting line up with George Lee moving to the bench.
The replacements bench shows a further two changes with Tom Bell replacing Rhys Verley and James Dixon coming in for the injured Adam Williams.
The twenty three on duty are:
15. Aaron Bramwell, 14. Tom Prydie, 13. Connor Edwards, 12. James S. Dixon, 11. Pat Lewis, 10. Richard Powell ©, 9. Nicky Griffiths, 1. Dan Preece, 2. Alun Rees, 3. Matthew Pettit, 4. Robson Blake, 5. Joe Davies, 6. Andrew Waite, 7. James Richards, 8 James Benjamin.
16 Brynley Toms, 17. Jack Haines, 18. Rhys Hutcherson, 19. Tom Bell, 20. George Lee, 21. Luke Crane, 22. James Dixon, 23. Phillip Pariyo.
