Countdown to CARIFTA Triathlon & Aquathlon

As we continue the countdown to the CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathlon which will take place September 28th & 29th in Tobago will see Bermuda represented by 20 athletes.

www.islandstats.com daily will bring you bios of the Bermuda team members, today we bring you Rory Fleming, Taylor White and Myeisha Sharrieff.

Rory Fleming – 11-12 Boys Triathlon and Aquathlon

Fleming has been competing in local Triathlons since about the age of 6. CARIFTA will be his first international event and he is really looking forward to it. He loves the swim, bike and run format of triathlons with cycling his favorite discipline. He is a member of the Bermuda Tri-Hedz Junior Triathlon Club, the Sharks Swim Club and the Bermuda Bicycle Academy. Despite recovering from an elbow injury last year, Fleming podiumed in all the local triathlons in 2018. He has won several local road bike races and was runner up in the mountain bike series. He has represented his school in numerous sports has been a team member of two overseas BRFU rugby tour teams.

Taylor White – 13-15 Girls Aquathlon

White is a Bermuda National Team swimmer who has recently been introduced to Aquathlon. White has medaled at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships and CCCAN Swimming Championships. She participates in local running races and represents her school, Warwick Academy, in both Cross Country and Track, winning several events over the last few years. She was the Bermuda Front Street Mile Middle School Champion in January of this year and the silver medalist in 2017. White has enjoyed training with the team and is looking forward to competing.

Myeisha Sharrieff - 13-14 Girls Aquathlon

Sharrieff is a competitive swimmer and a member of the Harbour Amateur Swim Club Gold Squad. She has competed locally and overseas, with podium finishes in Naples, Florida in 100m and 200m Backstroke, as well as 50m Freestyle. She also competes as a middle distance runner and has represented Bermuda and the Bermuda Pacers Track club at the 2016 and 2017 Russell E. Blunt East Coast Invitational Track Meet in North Carolina and the 2017 Flying Angels International Classic in Toronto, Canada. She had podium finishes in 800m and High Jump, while placing 4th in 1500m. Sharrieff recently joined Tri-Hedz Junior Triathlon Club. She has participated in local Triathlons and is proud to be representing Bermuda at Carifta.
