Two time World Triathlon Champion Flora Duffy surprised many when she competed in the Tokio Millennium Re Triathlon in Hamilton.
While Matt Thompson and Karen Smith were crowned the 2017 Tokio Millennium Re Triathlon Male and Female Champions.
Duffy only took part in the Swim helping Ashley Estwanik and Martina Olcheski-Bell calling themselves Tokyo 2020 win the Team event clocking 1:06:20
Thompson won his first Senior Triathlon event when he crossed the line in a time 1:08:27, Alan Potts was second in 1:08:57 and youngster Nicholas Pilgrim finished third with a time of 1:09:42.
Smith finished 4th overall with a time of 1:10:41, 2016 Bermuda Olympian Michelle Pearson was the second female finisher and 9th overall clocking 1:16:14 and finishing 16th was the third female finisher Maddie Durkin who clocked 1:20:00.
