Pilgrim & Durkin Crowned National Sprint Champions

The Bermuda Triathlon Association hosted the 2021 National Sprint Championships, which also served as a World Triathlon Qualifier scheduled for Bermuda in October.

Nicholas Pilgrim and Maddie Durkin were crowned the Male and Female Champions.

Pilgrim who competed in the Pleasant Prairie USAT Junior Elite Triathlon event, in Wisconsin last week, clocked a winning time of 1:04:39, Pilgrim established a lead in the swim, which he would be able to increase the distance on the Bike, before running home comfortably.

Tommy Marshall was second from start to finish clocked a time of 1:05:21, and Philip Mace crossed the line third overall clocking 1:06:43.

Durkin finished 6th overall with a time of 1:08:30, she was the first out of the water and like Pilgrim was able to increase her lead on the Bike, before running home almost a minute ahead of the second-place female finisher.

Ashley Couper was the second female finisher and 9th overall clocking 1:09:28, and the next runner to cross the line was the third female finisher Marie Dore clocking 1:09:55.
