Following his 5th place in the Challenge Cancun, 113K Pro Elite Division Tyler Butterfield said, “It was brutal, conditions like a Bermuda summer day.”
www.islandstats.com brought you the report of Butterfield’s performance on Sunday, which saw him clock a time of 3:57:21.
Butterfield said, “I got what I came for, a brutal heat experience and hard racing. It has to be or definitely felt like the hottest race I’ve ever done.”
“The race kept me as focused as possible over the last month traveling. I needed this objective to stay motivated,” continued Butterfield.
Butterfield went on to say, “Huge shout to everyone that completed, especially Javier Gomez on an as always master class performance for the win, Ruedi Wild on a great 2nd, and Andy Potts for crushing it out there start to finish for 3rd. Even with a flat tire on the bike, he was pushing the front! (& at 45) Incredible mate.”
Butterfield would conclude, “It is time to get back to work now for the big races or Tulsa IM for another brutal day to harden the legs first.”
