Between February and November, the Triathlon and Multisport world was once again treated to non-stop action, with superb racing showcased across ITU World Triathlon Series, World Cup, Mixed Relay, Paratriathlon, Major Games and Mulitsport Festival events.
The year was jam-packed with nail-biting finishes, inspirational courage, career milestone-makers and landmark global events.
While it is hard to narrow all of the excitement down to just ten moments, Triathlon.org hand-picked the Top ITU Moments of 2018 as those season snapshots that stood out the most and helped make this one of the best seasons yet! Bermuda is highlighted three times in the 2018 Top ITU Moments.
Whether you were at April's WTS Bermuda in person or watching on TriathlonLive.tv, you will know just how loud the crowd and electric the atmosphere was for the race. It didn't hurt that hometown hero Flora Duffy absolutely CRUSHED the women's event, essentially racing solo for the majority of the Olympic-distance course. We can still hear the crowd's cheers as she took the finish tape!
The inaugural WTS Bermuda race was historical for several reasons, but one of the great moments saw Norway become the first country ever to manage a clean-sweep of a Men's WTS podium. Casper Stornes produced a killer breakaway performance to win his first WTS Gold, before compatriots Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden joined in with the Silver and Bronze.
The 2018 Triathlon season was HUGE for showcasing the sport on some of the World's Biggest Sports Stages, with three Major Games events this year. The first was the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, where Flora Duffy (BERMUDA) and Henri Schoeman (RSA) won the Individual events and Paratriathlon and Mixed Relay events were also held.
