Smith Competes in Germany & Triathletes in Ironman

Tyler Smith competed in the German Triathlon Bundesliga in Kraichgau, Germany as a member of WEICON Tri Finish Munster.

Smith finished 17th out of 80 starters helping his team claim 5th place out of 16 teams (top 4 of 5 team members count).

Smith clocked a time of 49:47, he had a Swim time of 9:02, before clocking a time of 25:01 on the Bike Course, before closing out with a Run time of 14:13.

This professional league features 5 races during the summer throughout Germany.

Smith finished twenty-six seconds behind the winner, Anthony Pujades from France.

Although not a focal part of Smith’s race calendar, he valued the experience and team camaraderie the race provided. He said it also gave him and unique opportunity to experiment with race tactics.

Meanwhile, Tyler Butterfield led a group of Bermuda Triathletes competing in the 70.3 Raleigh event.

Also taking part was Steven Petty, Allison Petty, Neil Lupsic and Phil Mase.

Butterfield did not finish as he has a calf injury, Butterfield came out of the water in 8th place, he had moved up to the 4th position at the end of the Bike Course, but decided the calf has not recovered enough to take the chance on the Run Course.

Unfortunately Steven Petty was disqualified, due to an incomplete run course, while Lupsic did not finish.

Allison Petty finished 265th overall with a time of 5:31:25, she was 8th in the Female 35-39 Age Group, she was the 53rd Female finisher overall.

Mace was clocked in a time of 4:54:03, he was 10th out of 152 competitors in the Men’s 40-44 Age Group, he was 70th Male to cross the line and 81st overall.
