Today marks 60 Days until the start of Bermuda’s MS Amlin World Triathlon Festival Weekend. A count down clock has been installed at the Flagpole on Front Street, Hamilton, as a visual reminder for residents and visitors to save the date and make plans to get involved in the festivities.
World Triathlon Festival Weekend kicks off with a Grand Opening on Thursday April 26th at 7pm, with a Triathlon themed Harbour Nights Pasta Party for all athletes to enjoy local cuisine, and to stock up on carbs before the race, while experiencing Bermuda’s popular Harbour Nights.
The world’s top triathletes will be welcomed to Bermuda with a count down to zero as the Festival Weekend is opened with the colour and beat of the Gombeys along with other Bermudian cultural highlights.
This will be the first Harbour Nights for the season, celebrating 25 years of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce open-air markets on Front Street, Bermuda. Front Street is closed to traffic with local products and homemade artisan crafts and food vendors offering up something for every taste.
After the triathlon-themed Grand Opening celebration on Thursday April 26th, the Harbour Nights season of street festivals continues every Wednesday evening through to August 29th.
The ITU governed World Triathlon Series racing will be hosted in Bermuda on April 28th and is the second stop on the World Triathlon Series circuit, of a total 8, before the grand final in Australia.
Organizers are encouraging locals to line the streets in Hamilton to support the hundreds of athletes.
Free public viewing areas and a VIP section will be part of the event venue, with large screens on Front Street for optimal viewing on race day.
