Seventeen year old Lynsey Palmer has qualified for the USAT Junior Triathlon Championships.
As Palmer is not a US citizen she has been granted a solidarity spot following her impressive performance in the final qualifier race in Des Moines, Iowa.
Palmer competed in the Junior 16-19 Elite Sprint Distance race . Although Lynsey finished well within the remaining 17 qualification spots available, as a Bermudian she was deemed ineligible for direct qualification.
Palmer completed the draft legal 750m Swim, 20km Bike and 5km Run in Iowa in 1:10.54 which was good enough for 31st place out of 52 starters.
Palmer clocked 11:51 during the Swim, 35:18 on the Bike course and 21:42 Run. The field included many of the leading US junior athletes and was won by Addison Smith in 1:04:40.
