IslandStats.com
22 year old Gordon Benson has been selected to the British Olympic (GB) Triathlon Team for Rio. Benson is a name which may not be familiar to local triathlete triathletes but his father Gerry Benson lived in Bermuda and in 1981 did the Hawaii Ironman with Jim Butterfield.

Back on September 06, 2009, the younger Benson visited Bermuda and competed in a Bermuda Bicycle Association Criterium race in Hamilton finishing 4th in the Male B race, Dominique Mayho came out on top, winning with a sprint ahead of riders including Tracey Wright and Clifford Roberts of a break, with visiting junior rider Benson bridged up to the leaders, leaving the remaining 20 riders to chase unsuccessfully.

Benson staked his claim by clinching the Gold Medal for Team GB at the inaugural European Games at Baku 2015.
