Sue Edney finished 3rd in the 50-54 age group in the Barcelona Ironman 70.3 in Calella,Spain. Windy but cool conditions created a difficult swim, made more difficult by a strong current.
Sue exited the water in 9th place in 42.19 but soon picked up places on the long climb on the technical bike course which contained a difficult descent after the 2nd long climb. After finishing the 90km bike in 3hrs 28 mins 12 secs she had move into 4th place. Her run of 2hrs 07 mins 42 seconds took her into a podium position and she finished in 6:27:57 which gave her 112th place amongst female competitors. 2500 competitors started the race.
