Erica Hawley competed in the Tritonman Triathlon hosted by the University of California San Diego Triathlon Team.
Hawley did exceptionally well in a field that included Olympic Bronze Medalist Erin Densham of Australia who finished 4th. Hawley who was visiting the California area took to the course and was 16th overall out of 54 finishers and won the High School Category in a winning time of 1:05.31.
The Tritonman Triathlon in addition to becoming popular among collegiate athletes living near the west coast, it also attracts a competitive field of elite ITU athletes.
Hawley had a strong Swim clocking the fastest time of 10:02, before clocking a time of 34:26 on the Bike Course which was the second fastest time, before she closed out with a time of 19:49 on the Run Course which was the fastest time for the day.
Hawley finished over a minute ahead of the High School Divisions second place finisher Emilia Millan who clocked a time of 1:06:52, with Veronika Divis finishing third in 1:07:06.
