The Final race of the 2015 Argo Re Summer Series took place in near-perfect conditions at the Clearwater Beach. The only question mark was where most of the sand from had disappeared.
Veteran Neil de Ste Croix won this week's race very comfortably with a time of 23:38 and then kept running extra laps, in preparation for the world XTERRA Championships. In second place this week was Sergio Edness, who is still smarting from his 100m Dash win over Wayne Caines at the National Sports Center on Tuesday, Edness is fast improving crossing the line in a time of 26:38 and David Soutter also showing good improvement, finishing third ahead of James Dodgson with a time of 27:11.
Claire McDavitt was, not for the first time, was the leading lady finishing 5th overall with a time of 28:16. Laura Law was delighted by her time and second place, and has the magical 30 minute barrier well within her sights after recording a time of 30:19. Kirstie Jones--looking increasingly confident on the Bike--narrowly edged Dawn Johnson, who is recovering well from illness and injury, into third place, Jones clocked 36:04 and Johnson clocked 36:16.
In the Junior race 8 year old Ethan Thompson put in a strong showing and quite deliberately chose to do an extra bike lap. The first of the two very young 'uns followed, his 5 year old brother Simon Thompson, closely marshalled by Dad Matt Thompson. One 5 year old wasn't enough--Oliver Renier also did the bike and run, with proud Dad Matthew Renier keeping a watchful eye.
