Bermuda Triathletes Compete in Canada

IslandStats.com
Tyler Smith, Erica Hawley, Rebecca Harrison and Alex Pilgrim produced excellent performances at the Canadian National Triathlon Champs in Magog, Quebec.

Smith finished 11th out of 76 in the Junior Elite 16-19 Men’s race in 59:43, Smith clocked a time of 9:43 during the 750m Swim, he then clocked 31:40 during the 20km Bike Course and then Smith clocked 17:02 on the 5km Run.

As in Europe, Smith was off the bike with the lead group but was unable to match the run pace set by the top 10, all of whom went quicker than 17 minutes. However, as pointed out many times, Smith has two more years in this Age Group so his performance was outstanding.

Racing over the same distance in the Women’s 16-19 Elite Juniors Race, Hawley was also impressive as she finished 14th out of 58 in 1:09:12. Like Smith, Hawley will still be competing in this age group next year.

Alex Pilgrim raced earlier in the 13-15 Youth Canadian Championships and finished in a very creditable 12th place out of 57 competitors in 43:57.

Pilgrim recorded a time of 7:39 during the 500 meter Swim, 18:37 over the 15km Bike Course and 16:21 was clocked during the 4km Run. Pilgrim also still has another year in this Age Group and Rebecca Harrison raced in the 13-15 Youth Girls Championships and finished 51st out of 56 in a time of 57:17.
