The organizers of the Queen of Bermuda Tri presented by Bacardi wish to inform the public of some temporary road restrictions that will be in force on South Road on Sunday, November 9th.
Bermuda is again hosting an international triathlon, a women-only event. The race is supported by the Bermuda Department of Tourism, and will be centered on the Fairmont Southampton Hotel. The bike and run portions of the race will be along the length of South Road between Barnes Corner and Mission Road, necessitating fairly stringent traffic restrictions in both directions in order to ensure the safety of the athletes. There shall have more than 80 marshals out on the course.
Road closure times will be as follows (reopening times are approximate and based on the last athlete completing the course):
South Road (Barnes Corner to Mission Road) – both directions– 7:00AM to 9:00AM
South Road (west bound between Horseshoe Bay Park and The Reefs Hotel – 9:00AM to 10:00AM
South Road (east bound between The Reefs and Fairmont Southampton entrance) - 9:00AM to 10:30AM
