Karen Smith in Action IslandStats.com Karen Smith finished a very creditable 8th in the 45-49 Age Group during the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada.
Smith exited the 1.2 mile Swim in 30:41 which was the 8th fastest in her Age Group, she then put together a fast 2:39:26 time on the 56 mile Bike Course which was the 5th fastest for her Age Group, Smith went into the Run in 5th place.
Smith then posted a 1:42:57 for the 13.1 mile Run for a total time of 4:59:54. The Age Group was won by Sarah Russell of the USA in 4:50:18.
Meanwhile Heather Cooper, who is still recovering from a nasty shoulder break some weeks ago put up a gutsy performance by going to the start line in the 50 – 54 Age Group Category with very little training finishing 64th with a time of 6:14:30.
Cooper came out of the water in a time of 36:37, she then clocked 3:09:07 on the Bike Course before closing out with a time of 2:18:31 on the Run Course.
