Tyler and Nikki Butterfield are the 2014 Tokio Millennium Re Male and Female Triathlon Champions.
On a rainy morning in Hamilton Tyler Butterfield led from start to finish, while Nikki Butterfield had to come from behind following the Swim, she put the hammer down on the Bike and then was strong enough to hold off the defending champion Karen Smith.
Ironically mother Karen Smith finished second in the Women’s Event and son Tyler as he did last year finished second, Jonathan Herring was the third finisher.
Tyler Butterfield clocked a time of 58:15, Tyler Smith finished second with a time of 1:02.14 and Herring finished third clocking 1:03.16.
Nikki Butterfield finished 7th overall, she was 25th out of the water, she then clocked the 10th fastest Bike time, before closing out with the 7th fastest Run time crossing the lien in 1:06.53.
Karen Smith was 10th overall with a time of 1:09.18 and Laurie Orchard was the 12th competitor to cross the line and the third female finisher clocking a time of 1:10.39.
