The 2012 Digicel Bermuda National Men’s Squash Championships will be an official PSA World Squash Tour ranking event drawing back touring pro Micah Franklin from Canada and Robert Maycock from US Ivy league College Squash.

The two top young stars, both former Bermuda and Caribbean Junior Champions will come into the draw looking to upset six time champion Patrick Foster and former World #63 Nick Kyme.

The Digicel Bermuda National Squash Championships take place this month at the Bermuda sponsored for the fifth year by Digicel. Defending Champion and BSRA Director Patrick Foster said “We are looking forward to a great tournament. Digicel’s support of this event has helped take it to a new level with players fighting for world ranking points – it should be really exciting.”

The Digicel Bermuda National Championships also feature the Ladies Championships with Laura Robinson hot favorite to take her first title after convincingly winning the Club Championships title in December. She will face perennial favorites Denise Kyme and defending champion Liz Martin as well as newcomer Susie Lacy. The Ladies draw should be the strongest seen for many years and will produce some interesting matchups.

The tournament will also have the Men’s and Ladies Veterans titles up for grabs with the usual host of unbelievable talent from Bermuda squash. The Ladies title has been contested by Denise Kyme and Liz Martin for many years and 2012 looks no different, can Kyme add another trophy to her impressive list of triumphs?

The Men’s Veterans title is looking totally open with names like Eugene Bothello, Jan Brewer, Andy McComb, Colin Alexander, John Stout and Richard Brewer I the mix it is impossible to pick a winner.

It’s the Men’s title that draws the most interest though and with a field of 64 players starting on the 17th March it should be exciting.

The draws for all four events will be made LIVE at the BSRA on Wednesday 14th March at 6pm. Play begins on Saturday 17th running through to Semi-Finals night on Friday 23rd and the finals and presentations on Saturday 24th March from 5pm.
