Jason Shrubb, Kristian Muldoon and their Bates Men’s Squash teammates fell by a 6-3 score to third-seeded Middlebury in the third-place match of the sixth NESCAC Squash Championships at Trinity College.
It’s the second year in a row that Middlebury have beaten Bates by a 6-3 score for third place in the conference, although last year the seeds were flipped, with Middlebury fourth and Bates seeded third.
Middlebury’s Jay Dolan defeated Muldoon in four sets, Dolan won the first set 11-4, with Muldoon winning the second set 14-12, Dolan then won the third set 11-6, before closing the match out with a 11-7 fourth set win.
After winning the first two sets 11-6, 11-9, Shrubb outlasted Robert Galluccio in the third set, 15-13, to earn a 3-0 sweep.
