Crichlow & Watford Draw on his Return to Action

IslandStats.com
Kane Crichlow returned to action with his Watford Under-23 teammates as they continue to develop defensively and take a leaf out of the first-team book by keeping a third clean sheet in five games this afternoon.

Watford kept Hull City at bay for 90 minutes at Vicarage Road in a Professional Development League clash and their defensive structure is so sound that each of the clean sheets has been achieved with a different 'keeper in between the sticks: Dante Baptiste against Swansea, Adam Parkes at Wigan and now Myles Roberts against the visiting Hull City team.

Watford’s Xisco Muñoz, the Head Coach was in the stands once again watching the 23s.

The goal didn't come, but it wasn't for the want of trying. Phoenix Patterson went close twice in the first half and Crichlow twice in the second, but Harvey Cartwright was in excellent form in the Hull goal, with the save from Crichlow with his legs the pick of the bunch.

"If you don't put your chances away, then a draw is a fair result," said Under 23 coach Omer Riza. "On the balance of play, we created more chances than them and really could have scored a couple and come away with a win. We just lacked a bit of detail in the first third. Phoenix carved out a couple of opportunities and it would have been nice had it ended up in the back of the net as he mixed his game up really well in midfield. Crichlow got more in the game in the second half when it opened up. We know when he's isolated one-v-one he can cause all sorts of problems. It just wasn't to be today."
