Dale Eve and his Stoke City Under 21 teammates endured a bad day at the office as they suffered a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Derby County.
Adam Thomas had cancelled out Callum Guy's opener midway through the first half before Tom Koblenz scored either side of the half-time whistle as Derby County restored their lead.
Four goals in a six-minute spell then catapulted the hosts to a comfortable victory with substitute Alban Bunjaku scoring twice followed up by further goals from Kwame Thomas and Shaquille McDonald.
Glyn Hodges was without the services of regular midfielders Olly Shenton and Eddy Lecygne following their recent involvement with the first team squad, as well as striker George Waring, who recently joined League One outfit Barnsley on loan.
There was the welcome sight of Slovakian Under 21 center half Dionatan Teixeira, however, who stepped up his match fitness following a spell on the sidelines with a broken foot.
