Che'chulae Dowling and her Jackson State Women’s Soccer teammates fell just short of McNeese State despite tying the match at one in the first half of the game. Jackson State lost 2-1 in its first road match of the season.
Roughly eight minutes into the match, McNeese State scored a goal right down the middle in the 9th minute. Jackson State equalized in the 35th minute with a goal from Kendyl Terrell, assisted by Kyla Gomez. McNeese State took the lead that carried into the half on a goal scored by Isabelle Smith in the 45th minute.
Erin Cate took her chance on the goal in the 59th minute, but McNeese State's Jackie Kelly came up with the save. In the 72nd minute, Kendyl Terrell tried tie it up for a second time but couldn't get the ball past Kelly. Karime Antonio-Lopez followed up with another attempt in the 73rd minute but was unlucky. Caylah Williams shot on goal in the 77th minute and Terrell shot again in the 89th minute but neither shot hit the net. Despite Jackson State’s attempts to level the match, McNeese State held on for the 2-1 win.
