Leilanni Nesbeth and her top-seeded Florida State Women’s Soccer teammates advanced to the National Championship game - the Final of the College Cup.
Florida State played the Virginia Cavaliers in a very even game, finally winning out in Kicks from the Penalty Mark for the second straight match.

Nesbeth and her teammates advance to attempt to win their third national title. Florida State women have been wildly successful under coach Mark Krikorian, winning two national titles. The College Cup is like a second home for this team.
The penalty kick shootout is not how most fans want to see their team advance, but both teams were evenly matched and either team would have been hard served by this loss. Florida State keeper Cristina Roque saved two penalties after seeing Virginia’s first penalty taker miss high, putting her attempt into stands.
Florida State survives and advance. They will face the winner of Santa Clara vs North Carolina. UNC is one of the other most successful programs in women’s soccer and is the favorite to advance and meet Florida State.
