Nia Christopher and her Towson University Women's Soccer teammates challenged one of the typical powers of the Colonial Athletic Association and pushed Northeastern to overtime, but fell in the 99th minute 1-0. Towson had strong chances and rallied in the second half, but Northeastern held and won in the final minute of the first overtime.
Northeastern won on a goal from Kayla McCauley, assisted by Chelsea Domond. Angeline Friel won the game in goal with three saves in the shutout.
In the 73rd minute Towson came close to getting the winner in regulation time as Christopher made a move on the left side of the box to draw the goalkeeper, she would pass off to Jenna Blank for a shot. Blank's shot went towards the right post where a Northeastern defender made the save to help her keeper.
