UCLA drew level in the 59th minute Mia Fishel was fouled in the box. Canales took the penalty and fired it past goalkeeper Cassidy Smith for her fourth career penalty kick goal.
UCLA scored the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute after Delanie Sheehan found Reilyn Turner on the right side. Turner cut and sent a cross to Fontes in the box, and Fontes shot far post to record the game-winner.
