Kenni Thompson would once again be in the starting lineup for Espanyol, but they would fall 3 – 1 to Madrid.
Early in the match Madrid began to control possession and times of the match and it paid off as they took the lead in the 11th minute, thanks to a shot from Chikwelu, one of the seven signings for Madrid in this winter market.
In the 50th minute the score was level, Dulce sent a free kick right in the middle for Ayaka Noguchi to flick on toward goal, but it was saved by Raquel Poza, however, Espanyol captain Inés Juan was there to score from close range.
Madrid would once again take the lead, this time in the 79th minute when Chikwelu scored from a rebound.
Madrid would then sink Espanyol seven minutes later with a third when Geyse’s shot deflected off Ines before hitting the back of the net.
