IslandStats.com
Academy 92 midfielder Simeon Burrows has been called up for the Bermuda Youth Squad.

The 17-year-old will represent Bermuda for the Football Festival Committee’s Friendly International Tournament in Bermuda.

It is the first time the tournament has been held, and will be competed between the Bermuda Under-19/20 Academy team, a visiting West Ham Under-19/20 Academy team, Sao Miguel Under-19/20 select team from Portugal and the Bermuda League select.

Simeon has impressed in the youth team’s inaugural season this year, and played a part in the FA Youth Cup run, scoring away at Daisy Hill. He has previous international experience having played for the Under-15s and Under-17s.

Head of Academy, Jamie Russell, said, “We’re absolutely delighted for Simeon, it’s a wonderful opportunity for him to represent his country at his age.

“It is great to see how much he has come on this season, and this will only add to his growing experience and continue to help develop him as a player and as a person.”

The first year scholar, who studies at Trafford College, told their website: “It’s a great achievement for me to represent the country where I was born, and this time is extra special with the competition being held in Bermuda. It will be nice to have family there cheering me on.”

The tournament will take place from May 7th to May 13th, and on behalf of everyone at the club, good luck Simeon!

Simeon will become the third player from the Academy to represent his country this season with Alex Doyle and Mani Ogunrinde having played for the England Under-18 schoolboys in the Centenary Shield in March.
