Christopher Araujo and his Cabrini Men's Soccer teammates secured the top seed in the upcoming CSAC Tournament and home field advantage with a 5-1 victory at Cairn University the regular season finale for both teams.
Four players marked the scoring column, as the Cabrini tied their season high for goals in a game.
Cabrini wasted little time in taking control of the action, as senior Ben Roda turned a pass from freshman John Griffin in the game's first goal just over two minutes after the opening whistle.
Seven minutes later, the rookie notched his second assist of the day, as he connected with sophomore Araujo in the 10th minute.
While Cairn got on the board in the 30th minute, the Cabrini were not finished with their first half scoring.
Sophomore Derek Amoako tallied his first two goals of the season in the 34th and 42nd minutes, off assists from junior Matt Ochman and Roda, respectively.
Despite owning a slim 6-5 advantage in first half shots, Cabrini held a commanding 4-1 lead on the scoreboard at the half.
Cabrini controlled the action in the second half, as it held the Highlanders without a shot or a corner kick after the break.
Senior Joe Fiore closed the scoring in the 73rd minute, as he converted the rebound off a shot by freshman Josh Cunningham.
Araujo accounted for four of the Cabrini 12 shots in the win, two more than Amoako and junior Jared Irwin. Sophomore goaltender Mike Gould secured the victory with a pair of saves.
