Darrell & Pond Help Brookhaven Win District Trophy

Deshae Darrell, Micah Pond and their Brookhaven College Women’s Soccer teammates now have the 2017 District F MAC Region 5 Tournament Trophy to go along with their Conference Title.
Brookhaven College defeated #2 Richland College 2-0 with a goal in both halves from Brenda Hernandez and Joseline Sorto respectively.
Brookhaven College took control early in the game when they won a corner in the 4th minute. Darrell whipped in a corner from the left that found the head of captain Brenda Hernandez to put Brookhaven College up 1-0.
That goal allowed Brookhaven to settle down and take full control of the game.
Brookhaven dominated the game in possession and shots but it wouldn't be until the 85th minute when Brookhaven sealed the game.
Another corner from the left by Darrell led to a mix up by the defense and the ball found the boot of Sorto to stab home from close range.
Brookhaven assistant coach Robert Williams said, “This is the first time in the school's history that they've completed the Region 5 double. Now the goal is to improve on the 3rd placed finish at the National Championships in Dryden, NY on November 9th - 12th.
