Known for its defense, the Johnson & Wales University Men's Soccer team has been picking up the offense of late.
Freshman Jazario Brimmer scored twice last week in two JWU victories to earn GNAC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office.
Brimmer is the third Johnson & Wales soccer player honored by the league this year – joining Nicholas Mancini and Yohann Assouramou – but the first to get the top rookie honor.
Jason Cruz on September 26th, 2016, was the last JWU Rookie of the Week. Brett Mattos from Saint Joseph's picked up Player of the Week and Norwich's Brendan Germano collected Goalkeeper of the Week.
Brimmer helped Johnson & Wales lock up the second seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament when he scored on a through ball in the 29th minute. That goal proved to be the game-winner as JWU defeated Lasell, 1-0.
Brimmer also scored at Albertus Magnus to up his season total to four goals.
