Deshae Darrell and Micah Pond were both on target as Brookhaven College defeated Cedar Valley College 9-0 in a dominant performance.
Savanna Hernandez opened the scoring after only 40 seconds after a solo run allowed her wiggle through the Cedar Valley defense and power the ball home. Hernandez was on target again after some sloppy defending allowed her to win the ball in the final third and put the ball past the helpless keeper.
A minute later Darrell made her mark on the game after some brilliant play down the left flank by Hernandez allowed her to cross to the ball to Darrell in the penalty area who made no mistake with her finish.
Darrell would find the back of the net again in the 10th minute after Julie Ortega played a penetrating through ball behind the defense for Darrell to run onto a slot it home.
Darrell then turned provider in the 23rd minute after some great link up play with Hernandez, after some a brilliant one-two Hernandez was able to power the ball home for her first hat trick for Brookhaven.
After starting off the second half a bit sloppy Brookhaven were on the scoresheet again when Ortega found Taylor Reyes unmarked at the back post with a great cross. Pond, who was making her first start since being out with a knee injury a few weeks ago, then got on the scoresheet when a corner kick from Reyes found the head of Pond, who made no mistake with a powerful header.
Brookhaven would then finish off the scoring through Joseline Sorto and Olivia Marin in the 69th and 75th minutes respectively.
Brookhaven are now 7-1-1 in the Region 5 MAC Conference play with one game to go before the Region 5 Tournament starts next week.
