Jazario Brimmer & Jahkeem Hunt

Jazario Brimmer, Jahkeem Hunt and their Johnson & Wales University Men's Soccer teammates got the first goal of the year midway through the opening half and that was all the scoring they'd need to win their season opener. Johnson & Wales defeated Colby-Sawyer, 2-0.

The first goal of the season came 25 minutes into the game. Teagan Drake took a pass from Jason Cruz and blasted it into the net from outside the box.

Just before the half, Johnson & Wales got another goal. Senior Chris Schmid headed the ball to Brimmer and he lobbed it over the CSC keeper for the first goal of his collegiate career.

Johnson & Wales applied a lot of pressure on Colby-Sawyer, outshooting the visitors, 16-5. JWU keeper Nicholas Mancini only had to make a pair of saves to record the shutout.

Chae Brangman

Junior Chae Brangman scored five points with two goals and an assist helping Rhode Island defeat Bryant 4-0. The newcomer has seven points through the first four matches of the season for Rhode Island.

Rhode Island took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute, after a Bryant foul in the box resulted in URI's first penalty kick of the season. Stavros Zarokostas took the kick and had his attempt stopped by Bryant's Olivier Larente, but the rebound trickled out to Brangman, who deposited the loose ball into the back of the net for the 1-0 advantage.

Brangman struck again after the break, putting Rhode Island up 2-0 just 3:14 after play commenced.

Carlo Davids and Peder Kristiansen picked up assists on the goal as Davids got the ball to Kristiansen, who whipped a service to the front of the net where Brangman one-timed a shot into the back corner for his second goal.

Rhode Island pushed it to 3-0 three minutes later on a similar play from the other side of the field. Ludvik Benco began the sequence with a pass to Ryan Bailey, who crossed to the front of the goal where Brangman deflected the ball to Davids for the finish.

Rhode Island closed out the scoring in the 78th minute when Niklas Middrup tallied his first goal of the season - a header off a corner kick by Kristiansen - to push the score to 4-0.
