The Bermuda Football Association announced a new initiative, they have partnered with PartnerRe to create the Kenneth “Smokey” Thompson Athlete Sponsorship Award. This award will be presented to a National Academy player selected by the National Academy Coaches.
The first recipient of the Kenneth “Smokey” Thompson Sponsorship Award is Jadae Steede-Hill. Steede-Hill will join Terrinae Trott, the 2016 National Junior Athlete Sponsorship Awardee, for a weeklong intensive training at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Bermuda Football Association President Mark Wade said, “We are grateful for this partnership with PartnerRe. The support will enable the Bermuda Football Association to add another opportunity for our National Academy players to continue their football development.”
Tanika wade, the head of Human Resources at PartnerRe Bermuda said, “Since the passing of our beloved colleague Kenneth “Smokey” Thompson three years ago, the company has wanted to honor his legacy and his love of football by giving back to the community. We are pleased to work with the Bermuda Football Association to support Bermuda’s youth and the sport through and award in Smokey’s name. we congratulate Steede-Hill as the recipient of this award and wish he much success in her travels to the IMG Academy this summer and in her continued development as an outstanding athlete.”
