Bermudians Shine for Thomas College

Bermuda players shine as the Thomas College Men's Soccer team dominated early scoring six first half goals to defeat Maine Maritime Academy 7 - 1, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup at Smith Field.

Thomas College Men's Soccer has 9 Bermudian players on their roster including Diondre Dowling, London Steede-Jackson, Mikal Simmons, Willie Clemons, MacQuille Walker, Jordan Lambe, Rai Sampson, Jordan Payne and Zeon Robinson.

In the victory the Thomas improve to 2-2-1 (2-0 NAC) while the Maine Maritime Academy drop to 1-4-1 (0-1 NAC). Sophomore Josh Emard recorded a hat trick and senior Steede-Jackson scored two goals for Thomas College in the win.

Thomas got on the board in early in the sixth minute when Adam LaBrie shot in a loose ball in front of the Mariners goal. Keeper Joshua Reeks made the initial save on Clemons but the ball rolled right to LaBrie for an easy goal.

Six minutes after, DJ Nicholas put Thomas College up 2-0 when he headed in a crossing pass from Nawfal En-Antri. Steede-Jackson scored his two goals at the 16th and the 19th minute, with the second goal on a penalty kick. Emard followed up with two goals in the 26th and 39th minute both on crossing passes from Simmons and Dowling to put Thomas College up 6-0 going into the half.

Maine Maritime Academy got on the board at the 75th minute when Tom Samson one-timed a great crossing pass from Erik Andreasen. Emard put away his third goal at the 89th minute on a through ball from Walker to finish the scoring at 7 - 1. Thomas outshot Maine Maritime 25-9.
