Bermudians Shine for Thomas & Footy Tots Announced

Bermuda players shine as the Thomas College Men's Soccer team dominated early and often in a 10-0 victory in their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener at Johnson State.

Thomas College Men's Soccer has 9 Bermudian players on their roster including Diondre Dowling, London Steede-Jackson, Mikal Simmons, Willie Clemons, MacQuille Walker, Jordan Lambe, Rai Sampson, Jordan Payne and Zeon Robinson.

In the win, Thomas earn their first victory of 2016, improving to 1-2-1 (1-0 NAC) while Johnson State drop to 1-6 (0-1 NAC).

DJ Nicholas and Nawfal El-Antri each scored two goals for Thomas while Dowling chipped in with three assists.

Thomas College came out firing on offense in the first half taking a 6-0 lead. Nicholas put away two goals in the first thirteen minutes on assists from Dowling and Tevin Reid. Five minutes after, Reid chipped in his first goal for Thomas College for a 3-0 lead.

In the 32nd and 36th minute, El-Antri scored two quick goals and Steede-Jackson scored in 43rd minute to finish the first half scoring at 6-0.

Thomas College went on to add four more goals in the second half from four different players. Josh Morrissey, Ibrahim Moustapher, Baramee Janla and Rasmus Loso each added a goal in the second half for the 10-0 victory.

Morrissey's goal was the first collegiate point for the freshman.

Senior Joakim Sternas earned the shutout win in goal for Thomas College, stopping four shots while Gerrit Lane made 12 saves in the loss for Johnson State. Thomas held a 32-8 advantage in shots and 5-1 in corners.

Meanwhile Footy Promotions announced their “Footy Tots” program, which is open to boys and girls through the ages of 3yrs – 6yrs old.

The program will take place on every Sunday starting from October 9th - December 4th, 2016 at the Mount Saint Agnes Gymnasium.

The 3 – 4 year olds (10:00am – 10:45am) session will teach the fundamentals such as kicking, balance, dribbling. In this age group we use a variety of props and games with lots of physical activities.

The 5 – 6 year olds (11:00am – 11:45pm) session will teach basic skills such as passing, receiving, movement and shooting.

All Footy Tots will receive a training t-shirt, ball and participation certificate.
