It was late last month that the Bermuda Football Under 17 National Football team advanced in their World Cup Tournament, fast forward two weeks and the Bermuda Football Under 15 Girls have turned heads in Orlando.
The Girls won Group E of the 2016 CONCACAF U-15 Girls’ Championship Group Stage at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
They will now take on the United States of Americas Under 15 Girls Team in the Quarter-Finals.
Speaking with Head Coach Naquita Robinson ahead of the Quarter-Final she told www.islandstats.com, “As we all know the game is more mental than physical. We have to perform at a higher level than we have to compete with the USA. We feel very confident that the Girls will be up to the task and they are looking forward to this much anticipated game.”
“The girls are beginning to understand what it takes to play at the next level. Of course we are moons behind the USA and we understand what we are up against. Realistically we hope the Girls will take Bermuda pride into the match and will show that we are heading in the right direction,” continued Robinson.
On her growth and the team Robinson said, “This team has helped me grow as a coach because of the varying levels of the players. Some are very new in the game and I have to make sure they are not overwhelmed while making sure the more advanced ones are challenged. This group is a very special group and it is essential that we, the Bermuda Football Association invest heavily in them.”
Robinson concluded, “The 2023 World Cup Qualifiers is a realistic goal for this group. We also have a good group of Under 23's, Under 17's and Under 20's as well. So the future looks bright.”
