The Bermuda Football Association’s Women’s Committee will host the Girlz Play 2 Festival on Saturday, January 30th at the BFA Field in Prospect.
Women's Committee Deputy Chair Manny Faria said, "The Festival is open to all Primary School aged Girls and will be free for all participants. All Primary School year 1-3 players will participate from 3:00 – 4:30. The Primary School year 4-6 will participate from 5:00 – 6:30. The aim of the Festival is to create a sustainable Girls Football programme in Bermuda.
The Girls will coached under the watchful eyes of the Women’s National Academy Staff and volunteers. They will be assisted by members of the Under 20 National team. Attendees will be taught the basics of football through passing, dribbling and shooting drills before playing small sided matches.
Attendees are asked to wear black or navy blue shorts if possible. Shirts will provided for all participants. Water will also be provided and all girls are encouraged to bring a water bottle. Wearing Football boots are not required but is advised.
Parents are welcomed to stay and encourage and support their daughters.
It is our hope to use this event as a springboard into the creation of an under 10 girls football league. The league will be conducted by the BFA women’s committee and will run until the end of March. Teams will be created based on individuals experience and skill levels.
Those girls who haven’t registered already should show up 15 minutes early to complete their registration form."
