Bermuda Five South Kent Cach Stand-Outs

IslandStats.com
South Kent Coach Owen Finberg has picked out his "Top 12" Soccer Players who have walked the halls of the school and pulled on the Jersey.

Out of his 12 top players, 5 Bermudians make the list.

“There's no shortage of special South Kent School memories on my mind in this moment”, said Finberg. “But there are more than just memories that come to mind, there are people. Boys who worked hard to make these memories a reality. I wanted to take the time now to honor some of these outstanding young men I have had the privilege to work with during my twelve year career here on the Hillside.”

The Bermuda players on the list are as follows in Finberg’s words:

Detre Bell – Goalkeeper – Tri-captain ’15 – A very technical goalkeeper with both his hands and his feet. Played his best in the biggest games. Has already been capped by the full Bermuda Men’s National Team and was our first ever NSCAA All-American this year. Finished his four-year career with a .20 goals against average in helping us to 14 shutouts this year. He is finalizing his college plans for next year.

Shakhai Trott – Right Back – Co-captain ’12 – Co-Head Prefect ’12-’13 – A fiery player with great 1v1 defending skills and ability to get forward. He was always admired for his heart and ability to play so much bigger than his stature. Went on to play at Iona University and has since transferred and is finishing out his degree at Drexel University.

Tre Ming – Central Midfield – Co-captain ’12 – Great vision and ability to read the game. Started on probably our most individually talented team in 2010 when he first arrived as a sophomore. Was an All-Rookie, All-League, and All-ECAC selection as a freshman at Elmira College. Transferred to Thomas College and led the to two league titles and NCAA tournament bids. Was captain this past fall, his senior year, and earned the league MVP and the NCAA in assists for Division III. A regular starter for the Bermuda Men’s National Team.

Vernon Perinchief – Center Forward - Co-captain ’07 – The first recruit I brought to South Kent after he played for me in 2003 at West Nottingham Academy. Helped establish our very successful line of Bermudian players, bringing McQuinn Burch with him that first year. A natural goal scorer who racked up an astounding 37 goals during his senior year. Transformed his success at South Kent into a Division I scholarship to the University of Hartford, our first ever Division I player. Had an impactful career over four seasons with the Hawks.

Reggie Thompson-Lambe - Right Wing – An outstanding talent that accomplished remarkable things during his one year for the Cardinals. The first freshman to make an immediate impact in the program. Single handedly delivered our first ever New England title scoring the game-tying goal the second half of the 2006 semifinal and then the winner in extra time. Scored two second half goals in the final to bring us back from down 2-0 and then added the golden goal in extra time for our first ever championship. Turned professional after his freshman year joining Ipswich Town FC in the English Championship. Also was a regular starter for Toronto FC during his two years in the MLS and now starting for Mansfield Town FC back in England, and a regular in the Bermuda Men’s National Team first XI.
