Somersfield Academy defeated the Paget Primary 3-1 in a penalty shootout to win the BSSF Primary School Boys A Division Six-A-Side Tournament at the Shelly Bay Field bringing an end to three consecutive days of School Football at the same location highlighting Bermuda’s Youth Football talent.
Zyaire Evans gave Paget the lead early in the second half with a wonderful shot from outside the box which gave the Somersfield goalkeeper no chance. Xavier Lee equalized with minutes left with a stunning long range effort of his own. Neither team could find the winner before the dreaded penalty shootout settled the tie.
Paget Primary reached the final after winning a penalty shootout over Warwick Academy in their Semi-Final match that ended in a scoreless tie. Somersfield's Ty Dunlop converted from the penalty spot to give Somersfield Academy a 1 - 0 victory over St George’s Prep in the other Semi-Final.
West Pembroke came from behind to defeat their West Central Zone rivals Saltus Grammar School 2-1 in the B Division Final.
Both teams went undefeated during the pool stages before meeting it the final. Bakari furbert gave saltus an early lead in the opening minutes. Tavez Smith converted the equalizer soon after for West Pembroke. Both teams then settled defensively until Smith scored the second half winner. West Pembroke defeated Northlands Primary 5-0 in their Semi-Final with two goals each from Ajani Zuill and Kieron Bean, Smith scored the fifth in the rout. Saltus only needed a solo strike from Furbert to secure their spot in the Final with a 1 - 0 win over Somersfield Academy.
