Pedro Silva scored a pair of goals while Jonny Cosgrove added a goal and an assist as Marco Warren and his Flagler College teammates cruised past Georgia Southwestern State University 5-1 in a Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer match at Hurricane Field.
Flagler improved to 3-2-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the Peach Belt. Georgia Southwestern fell to 1-5-2 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play.
In four of Flagler's six matches this season, they have scored at least one goal in the first half. Silva scored the first of his two goals in the ninth minute to give Flagler an early 1-0 lead. In the 29th minute, Erlend Lofsgaard booted in a penalty kick to move the lead to 2-0. In the second half, Cosgrove scored off of a pass from Warren in the 55th minute.
Just 43 second after Georgia Southwestern State made it 3-1, Silva scored his second goal of the day, unassisted, in the 77th minute.
Oscar Davidsson capped the scoring as he knocked in Cosgrove's cross into the top left corner of the goal in the 87th minute. Lex Craggs recorded six saves for Flagler while his counterpart, Joshua Swift, saved nine shots for Georgia Southwestern State.
Flagler out-shot Georgia Southwestern 25-17 and held a 12-8 edge in corner kicks.
