Thomas College Men’s Soccer programme that features 6 Bermuda players, including Jordan Payne, London Steede-Jackson, Mikal Simmons, Tre Ming, Willie Clemons and Chris Godfrey defeated the University of Southern Maine 6-1 for their first win of the season in a non-conference game at Smith Field.

Four of the six Bermuda players were starters, with two of them finding the back of the net.

Thomas struck first, twenty minutes into the contest. Clemons chipped the ball in from just outside the 18 to Josh Emard, who settled it and finessed the ball past the USM keeper for his first collegiate goal.

Thomas College added to their lead with six minutes remaining in the first half. Clemons took the ball in towards goal and fired a shot that hit off a Southern Maine defender. Clemons then collected the rebound and chipped the ball over the goalie and into the net to put Thomas College up 2-0 heading into halftime.

Southern Maine got on the board twenty minutes into the second half. Chris Pepin served the ball into Randy Merced, who flipped the ball over Thomas goalie Joakim Sternas for the breakaway goal.

Thomas answered just over a minute later when Clemons served the ball towards net, where Ming scored the bicycle kick goal to give Thomas College a 3 – 1 lead.

Thomas added three late goals to bring the final score to 6-1. Adam LaBrie scored two goals with assists going to Emard and Clemons, and Emard scored a second goal, assisted by Clemons. Clemons finished the game with six points.

Sternas earned the win in goal for Thomas with seven saves. Simon Hulbert received the loss, recording 12 saves.
