This wasn’t the way Jalen Harvey, Anthony Hunter and their DePaul University Men’s Soccer teammates wanted to end the season.
Nothing went right for the DePaul University in a 4-0 BIG EAST Conference loss to Marquette in the Final game of the regular season.
DePaul finished up 4-10-4 and 1-6-2 in the Conference while Marquette clinches the No. 6 seed in the BIG EAST Championship.
Marquette opened the scoring in the 27th minute when CoCo Navarro scored his second goal of the season, controlling a long pass with his chest at the corner of the 18 and firing a shot into the DePaul net that deflected off a defender.
It was going to be one of those nights.
In the 43rd minute, Jack Alberts scored on a flick after a service into the box from Axel Sjoberg, who also picked up an assist on the first Marquette goal.
Louis Bennett II made it 3-0 with a finish in the box in the 48th minute off an Adam Hermsen assist. C. Nortey culminated the scoring in the 73rd minute with his seventh goal of the season.
Marquette outshot DePaul 10-7, they had five shots on goal to two for the visiting team. Marquette came away with a 2-1 edge in corner kicks, Harvey took two shots for DePaul while Erik Rodriguez and Art Garza each had a shot on goal.
