The University of South Carolina Aiken scored a goal midway through the second half to tie the score and Akeyla Furbert ended the match just seconds into overtime as they earned a 2-1 victory at Flagler.

The University of South Carolina Aiken are now 5-5-2 overall, including a 3-2-1 record against conference competition.

Although University of South Carolina Aiken controlled much of the first half, it was the home squad that netted the first goal. Flagler jumped on top late in the first period as Abby Austin took a pass from Evy Jacobs and one-timed it into the bottom left corner of the goal.

Just 3:05 into the second stanza, Caroline Gillespie took a free kick and Haley Pipkin rocketed home her first goal of the year evening the match at 1-1.

Head coach Sue Vodicka's team continued to apply pressure. In the 74th minute, Furbert narrowly missed giving the University of South Carolina Aiken a 2-1 lead as her shot hit the post. Seconds later, rookie Brye Epley fired a shot but the Flagler keeper managed to save it, preserving the tie.

After earning a corner kick at the 82:40 mark, Gillespie fired a shot that went wide of the frame. Pipkin missed wide left in the 84thminute. Pipkin's attempt was the last for either team in the waning minutes of regulation.

Vodicka's squad ended the match quickly as Furbert intercepted a pass that was going toward the box. Furbert one-timed it into the back of the net from 16 yards out for the game-winning score 14 seconds into the extra session.
