Thomas College with their Bermuda Eight defeated Bates College by a score of 1-0 in a Non-Conference Men's Soccer at Thomas College's Smith Field.

Eight of Bermuda’s Young Footballers are playing for the Thomas College Men's Soccer team. The eight include, Winston Trott, Zeon Robinson, Mikal Simmons, Marcus Johnson, London Steede-Jackson, Tre Ming, Khamisi Lightbourne and Chris Godfrey.

Ming scored the lone goal for the home team, putting home a penalty kick late in the second half.

Thomas and Bates played a scoreless first half, neither team able to convert chances into goals. The visitors had the shot advantage in the first half, leading the home squad by a 3-1 margin in shots on goal. Although Bates had the shot advantage, there was lots of back-and-forth play around midfield.

The deadlock continued into the second half, staying knotted at 0-0 until Thomas took a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick by Ming, who was fouled just inside the box in the 74th minute of play.

Bates had multiple opportunities in close, but could not convert as Trott registered back-to-back point-blank saves in the 65th minute. Bates continued to pressure late in the game, moving the ball into the box in the 85th minute, but Trott again made a tremendous diving stop on a header by Nicolas Visser.

Trott recorded his first career shutout on the day, stopping all eight shots on goal. Bates goalie Sam Polito faced four shots, stopping three of them.
