Eight of Bermuda’s Young Footballers are playing for the Thomas College Men's Soccer team. The eight include, Winston Trott, Zeon Robinson, Mikal Simmons, Marcus Johnson, London Steede-Jackson, Tre Ming, Khamisi Lightbourne and Chris Godfrey
The Bermuda connection was instrumental in helping Thomas College find the back of the net four times in the second half to take a 4-1 come from behind victory against Saint Joseph's College at Smith Field. Sophomore Tre Ming recorded three assists in the winning effort.
The beginning of the contest saw the teams going back and forth, with a lot of neutral play. Saint Joseph's were able to crack the scoreboard first at the ten minute mark when Garrett Darnell broke through the Thomas defense and beat Winston Trott to his left.
Saint Joseph's keeper Scott Benner came up with four key saves to give the away side a slim 1-0 lead at half.
The second half saw the hosts continue to pour on the offensive pressure, and finally evened the score when London Steede-Jackson received a through ball from fellow countryman Ming. Nine minutes later it was Ming again who found senior Dakota Duplissie, who struck from outside the box and found the top right corner over the fingertips of Benner.
The hosts continued the offensive threat with goals from Max Hansson at 72:39 and John Flores-Mckennna at the 76:57 mark to take the home-opening 4-1 win.
Trott recorded six saves in net for Thomas, while Benner recorded seven stops in the losing effort.
Overall, Thomas held a 30-9 advantage in shots and a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.
In the history between the in-state foes, Thomas improves to 8-13-3, with wins in consecutive matches.
