Casey Castle, Kiuno Cann and their University of Indianapolis (UIndy) Men's Soccer teammates has been picked to win the 2014 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship, in the annual vote of the league's 16 coaches. The 2014 GLVC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll was released by the GLVC office.

UIndy, which finished tied for the regular-season title a season ago with a 12-1-2 GLVC record, paced the field with 213 total points. UIndy received eight of the 16 first-place votes cast. Quincy (204), Rockhurst (198), Lewis (189) and Drury (170) round out the top five in the poll. Quincy received four first-place tallies, while Rockhurst took three and Lewis grabbed the remaining first-place vote in the poll.

The first-place nod is the first ever for the UIndy program, in the more than 10 years the GLVC has been conducting the preseason poll. Prior to this year's top selection, the highest the UIndy had ever been chosen was third, two seasons ago in 2012.

University of Indianapolis Men's Soccer, coming off of a record-breaking year in 2013 which featured the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, also made their second-ever trip to the GLVC Championship Tournament final a season ago. UIndy's 2014 squad will feature 2013 GLVC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team NSCAA All-American Ngwese Ebangwese, as well as All-GLVC selections Andrew Verhonik and Max Rohda. The University of Indianapolis Men's Soccer posted a 15-3-3 record last year, notching new UIndy records in wins (15), NSCAA ranking (#8), GLVC wins (12) and consecutive wins (11). Head Coach John Higgins also earned his second-career GLVC Coach of the Year nod last season.
