Bermuda’s Second Game in the Third Cup of Nations Mexico 2014 took place on Court 1 of the Training Center, Bermuda took on Portugal going down 2 – 0 in Group D.
Bermuda Starting Line-up: Nathan Trott, Kacy Butterfield, Jerome Bailey, Jason Symonds, Tahzeiko Harris, Azende Furbert, Aaron Burgess, Amar Lewis, Osagi Bascome, Judah Chapman, Oneko Lowe. Substitutes: Ahria Simons, Zenawi Bowen, Jomari Gooden, Lleniko Millett, Maquille Walker, Jomei Bean-Lindo
The Bermuda player executed the game plan for 65 minutes in the 70 minute match, the Bermuda tactics and game plan was working against Portugal the UEFA Under 17s runners up.
With the game at 0 – 0, the ball bounced up and hit a defenders hand and the referee without hesitation pointed to the spot. Rui Pedro stepped up and put the ball away. Minutes later Pedro netted again, Bermuda came out a little hesitant and got hit with a sucker punch.
With this result, Portugal goes atop Group D with six points, while Bermuda has no points in two games.
Portugal's next game will be against the Chileans tomorrow at 12 pm on field 1 CECAP; while at the same time Bermuda take on Colombia.
Portugal took control of the ball from the outset but Bermuda have stood resilient and defended staunchly, Portugal dominated Bermuda showing their potential as they played most of the half on the Bermuda side of the field.
When it seemed that tied the score ended goalless, an unfortunate move by Jerome Bailey of Bermuda at 66 'marked the course of the game. The Caribbean defender made his hand inside the area observed whistling, Rui Pedro took and made the first for the Portuguese.
Portugal enjoyed most of the possession. Bermuda goalkeeper Trott had a fantastic half and kept Bermuda in the game. Bermuda had a corner which resulted in a header going wide. Portugal received a corner and had a shot on goal which is cleared off the line by Harris.
