Dominican Republic 2 Bermuda 0

Bermuda starting lineup: Detre Bell, Terrance Webb, Alanzo Parsons, William White, Quintonio Lema, Kiuno Cann, Jaz Ratteray, Justin Donawa, Dakai Grant, Justin Corday and Rai Simons.

For the second game in a row Bermuda conceded an early goal, this time from a free kick from wide that is met by a Dominican player who scored from close range. Bermuda had a nervous start, with Parsns receiving an early yellow card. Bermuda had the first promising attack as Simons found Donawa behind the defense, Simons received the return pass but could not find space to get a shot off.

Midway through the first half, Bermuda had a promising run of play as Simons found Donawa but he was closed down quickly before he could get a shot off. As Bermuda kept the pressure on Grant got around the Dominican Republic full back, his cross was behind Simons, but Rattery-Smith was closed down before he can shoot.

This attack brought the half to an end.

Early in the second half Donawa won a ball in the attacking 3rd but the final ball from Rattery-Smith was cut out, however Dominican Republic started to control the flow of the game as Bermuda were struggling to find the pace of the game.

Bermuda won a free kick in the on the edge of the box, with Parsons watching his free kick saved by the Dominican Republic goalkeeper with his fingertips, Bermuda made a change with Chae Brangman replacing Rattery-Smith, and then Zaire Burchall came on for Corday.

Brangman made an immediate impact as he won a corner, Bermuda then made their third and final substitution with Calin Maybury replacing Grant. Bermuda went in search of the equalizer with three big strikers in and is looked promising as Burchall was brought down in the box and earned a penalty.

Simons stepped up to take the spot keep that the Dominican Republic goalkeeper saved well to his right, with the ball falling to Burchall wh could not keep the rebound down. Burchall and Brangman continued to cause problems with their height.

But from there disaster hit for Bermuda, Lema went down with a suspected hamstring pull, forcing Bermuda to lay with 10 men and down a goal, the tactic then changed as Bermuda started relying on long balls to the big three, but with 10 minutes remaining Brangman received a straight red for kicking out at an opponent, Bermuda were now down to 10 men, the Dominican Republic took even more control of the game but Webb prevented a certain goal with a well-timed tackle, Bermuda’s 9 men were battling to try and get a point from the match, but things were made even more difficult as Maybury received a straight red for kicking out at a player, Bermuda were now down to 8, minutes later they conceded a second goal as the Dominican Republic earned a 2 – 0 win.

All the teams in the Group now have 3 points, with Antigua leading with a +2 Goal Difference, Guadeloupe are second while Bermuda and the Dominican Republic both are -1.
