In August 2011, BAA and UECornella began the process of developing a relationship that would enable young players with ambition to develop in character, culture and in football. We currently have 8 players who reside in Barcelona, Spain who are participating in the World Sport Academy (WOSPAC) UECornella program. We are pleased to announce that, starting in September 2014, the WOSPAC UECornella Academy program will be replicated in Bermuda based on the exact model of the Barcelona program. With this, the concept and methodology that is successfully used between the WOSPAC residency and UECornella club programs will enable players in Bermuda the opportunity for further development here in Bermuda in order to fulfil their ambition of becoming more competitive in football programs abroad.
UECornella has quickly become a top football program with the first team’s recent promotion to the third level of Spanish football. However, it is best known for its work in youth player development while successfully competing with FCBarcelona, RCDEspanyol, Real Madrid and Valencia to name a few. UECornella is a top 3 club in the Catalan region of around 1000 teams, is among the top 10 clubs in the whole of Spain and is considered one of the leading youth development programs across Europe. The football expertise in player development through proven successful structure and methodology within a very competitive top football environment has seen the club advance over 90 players into professional clubs over the last 5 years.
With this, the WOSPAC UECornella Academy in Bermuda provides a real pathway for ambitious players to go for their football ambition without sacrificing their academic and social development. The program will indeed enhance these aspects. This program provides these players with the chance to work here in Bermuda using the methodologies that assist them in becoming competitive toward there top football and academic ambition by providing a proven successful methodology within a real top football competitive environment.
The program is a yearly 8 month program of 4 training sessions per week for ambitious players with the initial focus on players in U8, U10, U12 and U14 age categories both male and female.

Finally, we have Mr. Albert Benaiges, ex-FCBarcelona Academy Director who is now Technical Advisor and Director of methodology for UECornella and WOSPAC. Mr. Benaiges will be working directly with the program to enhance the training methods that our coaches will use toward competitive player development. We are excited to have the assistance of Mr. Benaiges who worked extensively in the development of the famous “La Masia” FCBarcelona Academy with direct involvement in the development of players such as Messi, Iniesta, Xavi as well Pep Guardiola ex-Barca player and coach and now coach of Bayern Munich.
